Just like contemplating a fine piece of painting or listening to an enchanting piece of music, finely crafted jewellery can often take your breath away. Now all active collectors and connoisseurs of fine jewellery should mark September 29th on their calendars, as Doyle New York’s auction of Important Estate Jewelry is going to take place that day.
Offering pieces from a variety of prominent estates and collections, the sale features jewellery spanning the Antique, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Modern eras by some of the world’s most talented craftsmen, including Tiffany & Co, David Webb, Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier. The sale also present a number of objects de vertu, including cigarette cases, cufflinks, elegant compacts and watches by Cartier, Patek Philippe and Rolex.
The top lots of the sale include a platinum and diamond ring, featuring a rectangular step-cut diamond, approximately 16.74 carats (pre-sale estimate £78000 – £110000), and a pair of diamond-studded earrings, 14 carat white gold, set with two round diamonds around 10.03 carats (pre-sale estimate £18000 - £32000). Also to be offered in the sale are the exquisite David Webb gold, platinum and diamond bib necklace, from the estate of Florence P. Shientag (£13000 - £19500) and the platinum, diamond and ribbon necklace by Cartier, featuring a total of 450 diamonds (£13000 - £19500).
Doyle New York is one of the world’s biggest auctioneers and appraisers of fine art, jewellery, furniture and other specialty categories. With its headquarters in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Doyle offers about forty auctions each year. Doyle New York’s exhibition of Important Estate Jewelry will run from Sept. 25-28, with the auction starting at 10 a.m. on Sept. 29.
