Early Highlights of Christie’s Important Jewels & Watches sale

|The world’s leading art dealer, Christie’s, holds regular auctions in the Middle-East. These oil-rich countries offer a fantastic, multi-billion pound marketplace, where auctioneers see tremendous opportunities to expand their business. Last October, Christie’s Dubai-based jewellery and watch sale brought in almost £8 million. The auctioneers are expecting no less success this year and are delighted to be show-casing the highlights of the Christie’s jewellery and watch sale, taking place in Dubai on April 20th 2011.|
There will be three impressive rings on sale. The first features an 11.63 carat brilliant-cut diamond, and is valued at £43, 800 – £56, 300. The second ring offers a 10.13 carat brilliant-cut diamond, carrying an estimate of £25, 000 - £37, 500. Boasting a 5.68-carat, F-colour, VVS2-clarity rectangular diamond is the third ring, estimated at £56, 300 - £75, 000. Also in the diamond department of the auction is a fine diamond bracelet set with rectangular stones, estimated at 31,000 - 37, 500.
Among the coloured gems in the auction is a beautiful emerald and diamond crossover ring (valued at £17, 500 - £24, 000), the rectangular diamond weighing 2.30 carat, set beside a matching emerald of similar size. A stunning sapphire and diamond necklace and earring set, will be offered for £25,000-£31,000 alongside a charming aquamarine and diamond necklace, designed as a string of graduated butterflies, their wings picked out in aquamarine. On sale with a pair of matching earrings, the set carries a pre-sale estimate of £12, 500 - £19, 000.
One of the highest-priced lots of the auction will be a spectacular 8-strand graduated natural pearl necklace with an antique diamond clasp and an estimate of £150,000 - £175,000.
