|The Spirit of de Grisogono is the world’s largest cut black diamond weighing 312.24 carats. |
It was discovered several decades ago in west Central Africa and was later imported to Switzerland. Before the stone was cut the beautiful black gem weighed around 587 carats.
The traditional Mogul diamond cutting technique was used by Swiss jeweller De Grisogono and the entire process from studing the cut design to executing it took over a year. This historic cutting method was developed centuries ago in India and can be seen in a number of historic diamonds.
This extraordinary black diamond was mounted on to white gold and surrounded by 702 dazzling white diamonds totalling 36.69 carats.
President, owner and founder of the company de Grisogono, Fawaz Gruosi, sold the diamond ring to a private client for an unknown amount.
