A remarkable pair of diamond earrings, featuring the world's most valuable diamonds from Golconda mines, will be offered at Christie's Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels Sale, held on May 31, 2011.
The pair sports 23.49ct and 23.11ct D-colour ,VVS1-clarity, Golconda diamonds, named "The Imperial Cushions". Moreover, these are type IIa diamonds which are exceptionally rare (less than 2% of the world’s production), because they contain no nitrogen and exemplify the highly coveted absence of colour and exceptional transparency of crystal. Indeed, the Imperial Cushions are a perfectly matched pair of ear-pendants, containing one the most outstanding jewels to ever appear in the market today. They are a perfect example of magnificence and rarity, and are among the ranks of such famous diamonds as the Koh i Noor, the Agra and the Regent. No wonder, these gorgeous ear-pendants are expected to fetch up to £6 million.
