|A remarkable pair of diamond earrings, featuring the world's most valuable diamonds from Golconda mines, will be offered at Christie's Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels Sale, held on May 31, 2011.|
The pair sports 23.49ct and 23.11ct D-colour ,VVS1-clarity, Golconda diamonds, named "The Imperial Cushions". Moreover, these are type IIa diamonds which are exceptionally rare (less than 2% of the world’s production), because they contain no nitrogen and exemplify the highly coveted absence of colour and exceptional transparency of crystal. Indeed, the Imperial Cushions are a perfectly matched pair of ear-pendants, containing one the most outstanding jewels to ever appear in the market today. They are a perfect example of magnificence and rarity, and are among the ranks of such famous diamonds as the Koh i Noor, the Agra and the Regent. No wonder, these gorgeous ear-pendants are expected to fetch up to £6 million.
