Princess-worthy diamond clutch bag sets a new world record as the most expensive handbag in the exquisite oasis of Qatar, Doha.
The eighth annual Doha Watch & Jewellery Exhibition is well under way in Qatar at the Doha Exhibition Centre attracting thousands of visitors every day with over 300 exhibitors including such top international brands as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Chopard, Chanel and Damiani. Today, February 17, the overblinged jewellery show witnessed a world record being set as the House of Mouawad received certification from Guinness World Records for its $3.8 million diamond handbag.
Named ‘The Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse’, it is said to epitomise the epic tale of romance and intrigue. Made from 18kt gold, the purse boasts a 4,517 multicoloured diamonds, weighing a total of 381.92 carats – indeed, an exquisite creation worthy to be owned by a royalty. Designed by Robert Mouawad, the stunning piece took 10 artisans and over 8,800 hours to create. It is priced at £2.3 million.
