Beau Sancy Diamond to be Auctioned
In May, Sotheby’s is set to auction a centuries year old diamond which is estimated to be worth somewhere between two and four million dollars. The 400 year old diamond is called the Beau Sancy. It’s one of the world’s oldest known diamonds and it weighs in at just under 35 carats. The diamond is a rounded pear-shaped diamond that is colourless. It is said that the Beau Sancy’s name comes from a 16th century French diplomat and financier named Nicholas Harlay de Sancy. Right now the diamond is set to go on display in London, Zurich, and Paris. The tour will end in Geneva when the diamond goes up for auction on May 14th. The Beau Sancy diamond has a place in history. The diamond once belonged to Queen Marie de Medici from France. The diamond was cut from a gem mine in Golconda, an Indian city. The last person in history to own the diamond was Wilhelm II, who was the last Emperor of Germany. Then the diamond became acquired by a private European owner. The diamond can certainly be used to create some stunning diamond jewellery that anyone would be lucky to own.
