HRD Certificates

Hoge Raad voor Diamant (HRD) Hoge Raad Voor Diamante (HRD), “The Diamond High Council” in English, was founded in 1976 in Belgium to meet the growing demand for reliable diamond certification labs. Contrary to popular belief, it is a completely independent body from the AWDC (Antwerp World Diamond Centre), established by the Belgian government and diamond industry representatives in 1973.

HRD

A HRD certificate is seen as a legal document as far as the European Union is concerned. The HRD certificate would guarantee the cut, carat, clarity and colour of a diamond to the highest accuracy, setting the standards for diamonds to be traded around the world, following the IDC (International/World Joint Committee) rules, making a HRD certificate one of the most reliable ways to prove a diamond’s value in the market.

The accuracy of the HRD certifying body is renowned in the diamond industry for its preciseness, comparable to the GIA’s (Gemological Institute of America). A certificate from the HRD would allow buyers/sellers worldwide to easily trade their diamonds confidently at the exact cost that they are worth by referring to the HRD certificate and eliminating the risk of buying a lower quality, or synthetic diamond.

All professional jewellers know of the HRD certification process, which makes life easier for the traders by saving them a lot of time and effort from visiting many different jewellers and getting costs through independent, and sometimes unreliable, evaluations.
