The Difference between Swarovski Crystal and Diamonds

Firstly, Swarovski crystals give the impression of being luxurious, sophisticated and elegant, whilst allowing the person wearing it or the item it is garnishing to display eye-catching beauty. Swarovski is a brand name for a range of precision-cut crystal glass which is made only by its producers in Austria. They do not occur naturally in the Earth.

Daniel Swarovski invented a machine that revolutionized the process of crystal cutting which made it possible to cut crystal with extraordinary precision. Swarovski Crystal is commonly referred to as Simulated Diamond or Imitation Diamond because its rich beautiful details so closely resemble genuine Diamonds.

Swarovski Crystal has a chemical coating that is used to create the many different colours of the crystals and comes in many different shapes and sizes giving them world renowned recognition for their stunning clarity and excellence.

Diamonds on the other hand are graded on their colour, cut, clarity and carat. The certification of a loose diamond is given by the GIA, IGI or HRD. This will increase the cost of the diamond but will also give you peace of mind that you are getting a genuine diamond and not something that is not real.

It is also important that you keep in mind where your diamonds come from. A diamond is made from carbon and has a hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale. Lead crystal is commonly around 6 or 7 on the Mohs scale, although both are able to scratch glass. Natural diamonds are made very deep within earth’s surface where high temperatures and pressure exist naturally, thus making them much more difficult to obtain, and making them a more expensive option that Swarovski Crystal.
